Don’t trust the domain redirections provided by your registrar

It sounds cost effective to use the domain forwarder of registrar to redirect to another domain rather than using your server. In practice, I have found that the domain forwarders from many domain registrars were never as good as htaccess directives or nginx directives.

They may block googlebot:

Depending on the user-agent they may block useful bots like googlebot. You may not aware of it and you will have not options to check it since google webmaster console does not accept DNS records as verification of property.

They may block IP addresses from bots:

Once again, they can block IP addresses from bots without you knowing it. As I said before, Google webmaster console does not allow website owners to confirm their ownership using DNS records. Consequently, when a domain is parked in the server of the registrar with a redirection in place, there is no way to check if googlebot can crawl the old domain.

The service may not be as reliable as you think:

The redirection may be down from time to time without you to be aware of it. It is a free service so there is no pressure to make this service reliable for the registrar.

Directive files are more reliable:

It is the most likely scenario. htaccess or nginx directives are more reliable and leave less room for errors than domain redirections from registrars.

My story:

I have checked the http headers response and the html response of domain redirections from registrar. I have discovered that some of them were not in compliance with RFC 2616. Some added unecessary url in the html of 301 response that pointed to another website that wasn’t mine. In the http headers there were my target url, but in the html, another target url was displayed. I have also noticed that sometimes, a www redirection didn’t work while the non-www worked because I forgot to add a line in the redirection tab from the registrar. All of that led me thinking that I took a risk for nothing as it didn’t cost anything to add the redirection to my server.

Advice for your domain redirection:

Since your domain was hosted by a webhosting company and if it had some ranking it means you had no issue hosting this domain on this server. Consequently, it would be logical to host the redirection from this old domain to a new domain on this webhosting account.

DIVI page builder VS Elementor

No external widgets  in DIVI page builder:

You can’t install a widget plugin and import it to a webpage using the DIVI page builder. On the other hand, you can’t install a widget plugin and install it on a page using elementor.

DIVI 3.0 is fast

I have found that DIVI 3.0 was faster than elementor. When I saved my work, it is always faster with DIVI than with elementor. I think that DIVI is one of the fastest wordpress page builder on the market.

Why I deactivated my comment section on

You may know that a 2013 study concluded that comments influenced the reader’s understanding of an article. Lastly, I have read comments from many comment sections of different websites and I have found that the information quality in those comments was most of the time very poor.

Adding comments on a post is like putting your text and comments of random people on an equal footing.


Whatever the subject, there are trolls who write text that has no value for a subject. On one hand, the authors perform research to write high quality articles. In this case, it can hurt the reputation and the website quality. I have found that “trolling” is THE major issue of comment sections today. There are comments that are full of allegations, prejudices, stereotypes.

Undercover advertisements

Undercover marketers advertise their products by posting fake comments about a product or a service. By doing so, they influence the readers and the author of the blog. However, they can mislead the readers by telling big lies about a product. Even if an article talks about the weaknesses of a product, the comments can persuade people to buy it even if it would be a major mistake.

My opinion

In this context, moderating useless comments are a waste of time. It is a new form of spam. It has no value and it is useless for your website. Some people say that comments are good for SEO. I have no proof that a long text will bring more traffic. People don’t understand that on a page you put on the same level high quality text and poor quality text. However, when you write an article, you can add quality text whenever you want to get more words.

Forums are better than comments section even if it required moderation.

It is really one of the strength of DIVI 3.0. DIVI 3.0 comes with a series of predefined layouts to save you time creating web pages. For example, the “product features” predefined layout comes with several section that can be modified in a wysiwyg environment.

DIVI 3.0 is not for web developers

I have tried to change the blog mode of DIVI using CSS and the way the theme has been coded makes it almost impossible to change using CSS. Meanwhile, it is easy to build up a website the “DIVI way”. It means that you must use the DIVI settings and the DIVI page builder. DIVI 3.0 is great for those who don’t know CSS and PHP.

Focus on the DIVI page builder to create a website

The DIVI page builder has as many features as elementors. I still don’t understand why DIVI 3.0 was not marketed as a page builder rather than a wordpress theme. Changes are updated straight ahead when changes are made on the page. The DIVI page builder has the same look and feel than Elementor and Visual composer. The limits

The limits of DIVI are related to the modules of the DIVI page builder. I strongly recommend not to try to use CSS or PHP in the DIVI 3.0 theme as it would be have bad consequences on the whole website. I have tried it and I had problems after changing the CSS of the blog page using the CSS editor of the “theme customization” option. In fact, I have been unable to get a satisfying result using the CSS. It was due to the way the CSS is coded. Also, the widgets of the sidebar are limited to the wordpress widgets.

DIVI 3.0 is good for which types of website?

I think DIVI can be useful for small and medium company websites because it gives the ability to create good looking full width web pages to present teams, products, portfolios, locations, contact forms quickly thanks to the predefined layouts and the modules of DIVI 3.0.

My DIVI 3.0 demo

I have installed a DIVI 3.0 demo in a subdirectory of my website. I have created pages and posts using the predefined layouts of DIVI 3.0. No widget plugins have been installed. Apart from security no other plugins have been installed. The idea was to show how DIVI 3.0 layouts looked like out of the box.

Here is a methodology to know when you should create a new youtube channel:

  • Think about your potential viewers. Draw the profile of your potential viewer. On the internet people watch what they like. You have bring the content people like to those people. For instance, if their are vegans it is easy to define what they like and what they don’t like. It is easy to determine what they want to see and what they don’t want to see.
  • Choose a subject that is wide enough to create many videos. On a paper, write subjects and the titles of the videos that could be uploaded for every subject. If there is no enough potential videos for one subject, it means the subject is not wide enough.
  • Create a youtube channel in a new language. Many Youtubers make the mistake to upload different videos with the same language. They forget that their viewers are not polyglots.

What people advise you may not be good for you:

I know that lots of youtubers encourage to keep online one channel to keep the biggest number of subscribers. However, the youtubers with this opinion are the ones who have an eponym youtube channel meaning that the subject of their channel is a person. When the subject is a person, you can talk about everything. Nevertheless it is an exception.

For instance, Casey Neistat can talk about everything on his youtube channel. One day he can review a camera, the day after he can review a boosted board and the three videos following those 2 videos can be dedicated to a trip in France. On the other hand, that’s not what other youtubers can do.

Let’s imagine you have a youtube channel about vegan recipes. You can’t dedicate one video to fishing or hunting on your channel. That does not make sense.

Think about the subscribers:

In fact, you should always think about the reaction of your subscribers when they will receive a notification about your new video. The new video should not be a disappointment. If someone creates a youtube channel about one programming language, let’s say javascript for instance, subscribers expect you to upload videos about Javascript. Then, you can create another Youtube channel for another programming language and advertise this channel on your first channel dedicated to Javascript.
